I intend to add more photos but as I said before I need to rewatch the show and as their are very few images available online I will need to obtain my own. Also, as I said before I am still ill but I wanted to see what you thought about the basic layout. I'll get onto it in a couple of days.
Hey, sorry to do this to you but I don't think I'm gonna be able to do this weapon pages properly for a while. I've just come back from abroad and have found myself very busy catching up with everything; and I don't want to do anything that looks lazy and has no effort in it.
I went to Berlin, ironically. I actually think you did good on the page; a lot better than I could have done. It's just I don't know how to actually do a lot of the stuff you put in; adding footnotes, creating hyperlinks and adding episode listings at the bottom. All that with the work I have to do IRL, I'm not ashamed to say that I well a little overwhelmed.
I was just wondering if I could add a bit of extra information to the weaknesses section of the page about the Strigoi. I was watching clips from Season 3 of The Strain and I noticed during a fight between the Ancients, Quinlan and the Master's Strigoi, and I noticed the the Ancient were able to kill the Strigoi by slashing them with their talons and snapping their necks; and throughout the series in general, the Ancients crush the skulls of their victims, to prevent the transformation into Strigoi. I wanted to add this information but I wanted to check with you first; especially after the last time I tried to edit that section.
I was actually looking for that clip for some time, I am glad you found it.
Let me clear about what I am looking for:
I give wide degree of latitute of what you can add, the only to criteria is relevance and that it is comprehensible to all. As in if you want to add an idea from your area of expertise like weapons for example, just explain what it mean -- that' s all.
Hi, just to let you know, I have created tv show versions of certain pages because the show deviates a bit from the books and so the lore is not the same i.e tv show vampires do not lose their ears. I think pretty much most pages on this wiki may need to be divided between book and tv show version as I think certain character arcs didn't follow the same paths as the book etc. I remember getting confused by reading some information as it was from the book and not the show, (haven't read the books)
Thank you for contacting me, it seems that the tv show page and the "original page" look the same other than the tv parts, You could have created a section called "television" and explained why it differed.
PS: I just thought of something, if you have some "wiki programming skill", why don't you create a tabbed version of the page, separate tv from book. I would fully support that.
[Another] PS: I added some videos recently, check out the therapy, baby factory, and finale ones, you may find it interesting, especially the therapy one.
It is the same currently because as I have explained in some of the summaries, that someone who knows the books will need to sort out the page and seperate book info from tv show info. I have never read the books and I need to rewatch the tv show again before I can even begin to sort the information out.
Sections wouldn't necessarily work as depending on how much more information from book or tv show can be added, the page could end up being stretched and too long.
Tab thing is a good idea but I am not savvy with computer codes, I have tried tabbing before and the results have been mixed.
What I can do is rewatch the show when I got time and make sure the tv show pages are not duplicates of the original, while someone who knows the books can make sure the originals don't have tv show information.
When I have got tabs to work, they could not be renamed which caused issues with keeping things orderly and properly categorized. I will see about trying to find working ones, you will probably need to create a template page to house the codes necessary for proper tab codes. If I can get them to work properly, we can merge the infomation but keep them tidy with tabs.
Babylon 5 brought back alot memories for me ( I think jeff conway, franklin, and katsulas died). I did not have a chance to see some of the direct to home video movies, it give me the chance to see things in a whole new way. I really like the political maneuvering.
The other two shows that come to mind is "Forever Knight" & "Highlander".
PS: The one thing I found a little disheartening is Bruce Boxleitner's career, it did not seem to take off like it should. The guy was in TRON, and headline another show or two, plus I saw him in NCIS, the guy has command presence. Other than that, I would see him in syfy channel movie
This is the official list of requirements that have to be met before we can ask for a Spotlight. We can use this post as a To Do list if you like. We can both edit it as we need to. Once we've ticked off everything on this list you can request the spotlight here.
The requester should be either an active admin or link to a discussion with an active admin of the community who agrees to the spotlight.
The community should have at least 200 content pages, not counting stubs. Stub, or very short articles (less than about 300 bytes; listed at Special:Shortpages) and articles marked with a stub template should make up no more than a fifth of all pages.
Needs to be checked:
The main page should have at least one picture and clear links to the most important content.
The mobile main page, including a wiki description with an image, should be filled out.
Needs to be checked: I can help if you don't know how to do this. It's a lot simpler than it sounds
There should be a clear category structure to help readers navigate around the site. Every content page should be in a category (Special:UncategorizedPages should be empty).
Needs to be checked: I haven't looked at the category structure, getting this right might be a lot of work. Fandom want to make sure this is correct because it makes building a phone app for the wiki much easier.
The community should not be in the middle of choosing new admins or any other upheavals; it should be a stable, friendly place.
The community should be using the Fandom welcome tool, signed by admins -- (MediaWiki:Welcome-user should say @latest, @sysop or the name of an admin.)
This is set, correctly, to @latest. This means that a new user should get an automated welcome message, signed by the admin who logged in most recently. Do you know if this is working correctly? (It sometimes doesn't work)
The message in the Community Center on Recent Wiki Activity should be customized. (MediaWiki:Community-corner)
The community should have a customized skin.
The community should not use offensive language or include inappropriate images.
1) There are 200 pages exactly, I do not know how many of those are stubs.
2) The mobile page might be problematic, I have not paid much attention to that
3) "This is set, correctly, to @latest. This means that a new user should get an automated welcome message, signed by the admin who logged in most recently. Do you know if this is working correctly? (It sometimes doesn't work)"
(You did not get the message when you created your sandbox)
Yeah, there isnt Ive read all the comics up to this prequel. Still need to read this one but I know Quinlan origins. I'll still read cause IMO he has the most interesting backstory (kind of unfair though being he's lived a few thousand years).
