Margaret Pierson is a minor character in the show. She was the Secretary of the New York State Department of Health and Human Services at the beginning of the series. Secretary Pierson believed that a faulty air system on Regis Flight 753 had exposed the entire flight crew and passengers to carbon monoxide poisoning. She blamed the airline company's negligence to safety standards as the cause of the casualties and the four incapacitated victims on Regis Flight 753. Consequently, Secretary Pierson removes the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)'s jurisdictional control over the flight incident and transfers it over to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
