Zach attempts to return home in search of his mother, but is prevented from doing so by Eph and the others. Unable to convince Zach that his mother is unable to be saved, and that she is not who she was before being turned, Eph places Zach in front of one of the Strigoi test subjects that he and Nora are using to test the bio weapon.
After Palmer and Setrakian's confrontation with one another, Bolivar is tasked by the Master with being Palmer's security guard, as well as with keeping a watchful eye over Palmer. Palmer is disgruntled over this, but accepts.
Justine officially declares Staten Island free of Strigoi. A few headless Strigoi are displayed to the crowd and the media, showing that her tactics and methods are effective in the fight against the outbreak.
Mayor Lyle wants Justine to implement the same methods across NYC that she used in Staten Island.
Setrakian is shown creating a variation of the Master's parasite-free blood, so that he can safely use it on himself. He drops the liquid into his eyes and passes out not long after. Nora discovers him unconscious and he is revived, prompting him to explain that he has been using the liquid in order to stay in the fight against the Master for as long as he can.
Dutch comes across posters of a former room-mate of hers, Nikki, who is missing. Hoping to find answers as to her possible whereabouts, as well as if she is still alive, Dutch goes to her mother, accompanied by Fet. Nikki's mother, unhappy to see Dutch, angrily says that Nikki's life was destroyed due to Dutch.
Vaun and Gus plan to kidnap Eldritch Palmer, and assemble a team of Strigoi to carry out the plan. However, when they reach Palmer's office, they discover that Palmer is nowhere to be found, and realize that he likely knew about their plan before they arrived. Palmer, from his safe room with Coco and others, activates a large UV light device that traps Vaun and the other Strigoi, burning them to death. Gus wants to save them, but ultimately is forced to escape.
Eph and Nora have perfected the Strigoi bio weapon that they had been working on. However, one of the test subjects is killed too quickly by the stronger variation of the toxin, resulting in it being useless in regards to spreading to other Strigoi, as it wouldn't have enough time to. The weaker variation of the toxin is the most effective, and so they plan to do a field test with it by allowing the alive test subject to be freed.
The Master is watching Eph through the eyes of the surviving test subject, so Eph vows that he would sooner kill himself and Zach before allowing the Master to turn them.
- Abraham Setrakian: I've, I've never confided this to anyone. I consume the worms to maintain my health.
- Nora Martinez: You've been eating the worms?
- Abraham Setrakian: Well, you can't ingest them orally. I discovered I needed to, uh, absorb them in solution through the eyes. Did you ever see this number on my arm? Did it not make you wonder about my age? I was a prisoner in a German death camp in 1944. I'm 94 years old. I need this to keep living. I've made my choice. It may be wicked, it may mean I go to a fiery and horrible place when I die, but it's too late to stop now. I will not stop. I'm going to win or die confronting the Master. I will not fade away as a weak old man.
- Ephraim Goodweather: [to a captive Strigoi] So the Master can see through all you things, huh? Are you watching me now? You took my wife. My son's mother. I'm gonna take hundreds, thousands of yours. I'm gonna work my way all the way to the top, to you.
