Nothing is known about Sanjay's life before the outbreak, except that he lived somewhere in New York and presumably worked as an associate for another business.

Post-Outbreak []

Season 3 []

"Madness"[]

Sanjay comes into Palmer's office with Thomas Eichhorst. Once they sit down, Palmer faints. Thomas Eichhorst calls in the nurse to help him. The nurse runs in to check on Palmer, the nurse picks up Palmer and asking for help to pick him up. Sanjay helped as the both of them lay him down on the couch. Sanjay introduces himself as his new associate and tells him about the special cargo from Egypt. Thomas Eichhorst tells Palmer to alert them when the cargo comes in to New York. Sanjay told him to make sure it docks.

Post-Apocalypse[]

Season 4[]

Six months past "Illumination Day," Desai is suffering from his almost lethal crash in the season 3 finale when he was left by Eichhorst in the car to either die or help himself. As a consequence he requires the use of a cane and walks with a limp.

Desai is working as an administrator for The Partnership that seems to govern worldwide or at least all over the United States. He oversees a breeding facility that tries to selectively increase the number of B+ babies, as this blood is shown to be favored by strigoi for its apparently unique flavor. The facilities conducting all manner of drug trials on B+ patients also suggest it may possess certain theurgical qualities. He proposes a collaboration to Dutch Velders—then using the alias Miranda in an attempt to protect herself and mission. Desai starts out with a friendly front which he drops when Dutch shows defiance and skepticism of the situation's pretty picture Desai still tries to uphold.

Sanjay Desai has a wife named Selah Desai. He was seen dining with her in a VIP only restaurant, but then Eichorst approached them to talk about the plan for the pregnant women in the birth center.

(Promo Contents)[]

As seen in the season 4 promo Sanjay seems to be alive and well after the nuclear blast. He is later seen in a hospital (assuming The Partnership's hospital) with Dutch Velders and a couple of doctors trying to deliver a baby from a pregnant woman. At the end of the promo Dutch Velders is seen trying to slit his throat.

Death[]

After being beaten by Dutch Velders, he is freed by the Master. The Master orders him to tell him what he told them. He replies by saying that he said nothing but Zach (who was also freed by The Master told him that Desai told them about the Empire State Building and his current location. After being faced with the truth, Desai told The Master that it was his wife who told them, resulting in him snapping her neck. After killing his wife, The Master told Desai that she was not the problem but he is. The Master attacks Desai and smashes his head against a wall several times resulting in his death.

Novel(s)[]

The Novel(s) lack any character bearing that name. But the use of a cane after the detonation and car crash that necessitate it's use hint that Desai's role fills the gap Dr. Barnes can no longer assume in the TV Series since he was killed by Goodweather.
